In June my sister Stephanie decided that she wanted to run a 5K. She asked me if I wanted to do it with her. After much thought I agreed. I haven't done any serious workouts since Dallin was a baby, and I really didn't know if I could do this. I have run/walked, heavy on the walking, several 5ks and have always had fun, but I didn't know if I could really run the whole thing. Steph found some podcasts online that would train us, so I decided to give it a go. Now 12 weeks later, the Couch to 5K program is only 9 but we were lucky to have a few extra weeks, I can say that I ran an entire 5K.
I am so proud of myself. I know that to more serious runners it doesn't seem like much, but to me it was a lot. My sister Holly also ran a 5K in California and although we weren't there it was great to being together in spirit.
The thing I am most proud of is that Steph also ran the whole thing. She did awesome. I am sitting here getting all teary eyed just thinking how proud of her I am. She is the most inspiring person I know. She can get me to do just about anything. She is always coming up with great ideas for us. You know how your mother always said "if they told you to jump off a building would you do that?" I think I would "jump off a building" as long as Stephanie was there beside me. She has now decided that she wants to do a 10k. Once again I am invited for the ride, one in which I am happy to climb aboard. So here is to another few months of training.
Glad you finally blogged about it! Why is it that Stephanie can get us to do anything? It brought tears to my eyes reading your post.
