Albuquerque

I had so many pictures it took me a while to figure out how to get them all on here. I went to Albuquerque, NM October 8-11 and what a great girls weekend I had. I was able to go to Albuquerque, NM with my mom and sisters to visit my mom's cousin Elaine and attend the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. It was so much fun!!

Mom, Steph and I left SLC on Thursday. When we got to NM we had to wait for Holly to get there from Cali. We had so much fun, sitting in the airport. I know that sounds totally crazy, but we really did. We sat near the baggage claim people watching for almost two hours and totally laughed out heads off. We rearranged furniture, saw a leprechaun/witch (we couldn't decide) and took apart Stephanie's sweater.
Doesn't it make a lovely hat?

Perhaps our finest hour was when we decided to make a sign and stand at the bottom of the stairs to wait for Holly. Her only comment was, "this is going to be a long weekend." Of course it wasn't, it went by way to fast and before we knew it we were flying back to SLC.

The balloons we amazing we went to a glow on Thurs night. They inflate the balloons but don't launch them and then after the sunsets the announcer counts downs and all the balloons light their fires at the same time. It was so beautiful to see 100 giant balloons of every shape imaginable glowing in the night sky. On Fri we had to get up super early to get to the field to watch the launch, but it was worth it. The shape balloons took off from the field, I couldn't believe they could actually fly. After those balloons cleared out, the regular balloons raced in from different parts of the city. It was like watching a hot air balloon parade. We just laid down on the grass and watched them bob across the sky.

On Sat we headed to Santa Fe. We saw some amazing artists, ate incredible food and spent way too much money shopping. Elaine was the ultimate tour guide and kept us completely entertained.

Sunday we went to see the petroglyphs in Albuquerque. They were so amazing. We walked about 2 miles in on a trail and saw so many. It is incredible to think of the people that made these amazing images. After that we headed to the airport. What a great weekend indeed. I can't wait to do it again.

There were too many pictures so I created a slide show, enjoy.

Oh yeah if you ever want to take your family and go to Albuquerque, do it. The kids would love it . It really is amazing.
