Okay for those of you who care here is the story of Ian's birth.
Thurs, 2/26, I had a Dr. appointment. She checked me and I was at a 4 almost a 5 but not doing anything. Since I wasn't technically 39 weeks she couldn't break my water. So she stripped my membranes and sent me home. When I got home I was having contractions in my legs. I kept having these and started to get a little anxious. My sister Stephanie had to come to Ogden to get some stuff so she came to visit me. We decided that I might really be in labor and that I should send my youngest kids with her to Logan. After she left Justin and I got packed, made arrangements for Savannah, and headed to the hospital. When we got there they were so swamped. We ended up waiting for over an hour in the waiting room, just so they could check me out.
So Justin and I headed home, and made a quick stop at Albertsons, to get some groceries that we needed. We also picked up some ice cream, which always makes me feel better. We went home ate the yummy ice cream and headed to bed.
About 4:45 in the morning I woke up and thought I am in labor. Of course I didn't want to have another false alarm so I laid in bed and tried to go back to sleep. After a few more contractions, I decided it might be the real thing so I got up and showered. About 6:30 I got Justin up and said we needed to head to the hospital. I was pretty sure this was the real thing.
We got to the hospital about 7:30. They checked me out and I was at a 6, but the baby was very high. Whoo hoo at least I had done something. They still didn't know if they were going to keep me for sure. About 9:00 my Dr. came in a checked on me. Now I was at a 7 and the baby had dropped completely. YIPPY, they had to keep me now.
They hadn't put me in a LDR when I checked in, I guess they thought it might be a false alarm again too, so Julia (my Dr.) couldn't break my water, plus I wanted an epidural. So I finally got into a real room and got my epidural and sat back and waited for Julia to come back and break my water.
My mom and sis Stephanie we the first to visit me. They couldn't wait, and showed up at the hospital about two hours after Ian was born. They would have been there earlier, but we took a while to let them know that he was here. Oops, I guess I was a little distracted.
Ian and I are both doing great. He didn't have any complications in the hospital. His weight stayed great and his billi counts were great. I am so grateful for a healthy child. I worry enough about their feeding and pooping without having to worry about their health too.
I am glad to be home and have my other crazy children back with me. I missed them and all the chaos that ensues when they are around.
Wow, that is a long labor! I'm glad he finally came that next day. Being sent home from the hospital is the WORST! I cried everyday Colby didn't come after his due date.

ReplyDeleteWow I feel so bad you were sent home from the hospital. I can imagine that would be very hard. But I am glad you didn't have to push long. Maybe it makes up for the long labor??? Being a c-section girl I don't know much about all that. Glad to hear all the details though. :)
