5k

Last weekend I did something I never thought I would do. I ran a 5k. Savannah's elementary school was doing a fundraiser to pay the music and dance instructors salaries. They had to raise $20,000 to do this. Note to self send a note to state legislator to get this changed. Don't you think that is sad that our state can't fund the arts in school. Anyway, the kids trained at school and Savannah said that she wanted to run the big race so I agreed. Now a smart person would train for this since we had almost a month. No, not me, I just decided to go for it. Well I did make it through, although I thought I was going to fall over at the end. Savannah and I ran with her friend Alivia and her mom. Thank heavens for them. Alivia's mom kept pushing us to run just a little farther. By the second mile Savannah was ready to quit so Alivia's mom, sorry I don't know your first name, said lets run until we get to 20 and then 30 and so on By time we reached 100 we had hit the down hill part of the run. I am really proud of Savannah for sticking with it. We ended up running about half the race, not bad for a 6 year old and an out of shape mom. I don't know if I will do it again, but I am glad we did it. This is us crossing the finish line. I have to say the feeling I got when we finished was awesome.
