Savannah started 2nd grade last Monday. I am still coming to terms with it. I always have to think about how old she really is and remember she isn't a first grader any more. Of course she was so excited and woke up early to get dressed. She was all ready to go by 7:45. I have to accept that this will be the only day this will happen. Savannah asked Justin to take her to school, "since I always take her to find her classroom before". I actually don't mind passing this job onto Justin, then I don't have to try and be ready to go that early.;)
Savannah's teacher is Mrs. Borden this year and I think it will be a really great fit. She seems to be really nice and creative, but expects a lot from her students. Her friend Gracie is in her class again this year, which I am thrilled about. Gracie's mom Jen and I are good friends and are going to be the class room mothers. It always helps to have great mom's to volunteer with.
The first week of school is always such an adjustment trying to get out of summer mode and back into school mode. Of course it is also exciting as the kids try to figure out all that will be going on in the classroom this year.
On Friday the kids and I were going somewhere. Savannah got all giggly and said she had something to tell me, but I couldn't tell Dad. "Mom Daxton likes me" then she giggled some more. A few minutes later she got all giggly again and said she has something else to tell me but I definitely couldn't tell Daddy "I like Daxton too." I just started to chuckle as we talked about what exactly that meant. She says it means that you sit by them at the rug, but not at lunch and you definitely don't kiss. Whew, I am glad for that. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that she is old enough to have her first crush. I think we are in for it now.
Totally crazy that she is already a "giggling school-girl"!
