The official kick off of Christmas

Saturday was our official kick off of the Christmas season. We had our ward party at 8:30 in the morning. After a wonderful breakfast of crepes and cheesy hash browns, we had a ward talent show. I let the kids wear their new Christmas clothes and since Savannah was performing I especially didn't want her to get dirty. They did great not a drop was spilled. I, however, managed to get a plate of strawberry crepes dumped on me. Luckily it missed my clothes and only covered my arm.

The ward activities chairman had told Justin that either he could sign himself up for the talent show or she would. So I decided that it is better be voluntary and be prepared. Justin sang The only thing I want for Christmas and Savannah sang I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. We couldn't decide what Savannah should sing until Thursday night, which meant we only had one day to learn this song. Justin thought he should sing with her just in case, but she was a pro and didn't need dad there at all. Justin just sang back up. It was so cute and I was so proud of her. Justin also did a wonderful job as usual, and the next day the Bishops wife told us Justin and Savannah got their families vote for the best performances.

At the end of the talent show, they had the wise men come bearing gifts instead of Santa, then the bishop read a neat poem. I thought it was the perfect way to end a church activity. The kids still got a treat, but it wasn't so worldly. It actually brought out the true meaning of Christmas.

Hailey loved her treat and swung it wildly around her. She was so funny.

When we got home the kids and I headed outside to enjoy the 7 inches of snow we received. It was so fun. We went sledding and built a snow bear.

Justin is singing with the Davis Master Chorale and they were singing at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I decided to take the kids to listen to the concert and then see the lights at Temple Square. IT was so much fun. The snow made the lights so magical. The kids loved all the different colors. Lets face I loved all the different colors. There is a solid red tree, I can't imagine how many thousands of lights are on that one tree. It is so gorgeous.

While there we I ran into Talia and Jared Littledike and their family. It was so fun to see her for a few minutes. I run into Talia at the oddest times. Although we haven't been able to spend a lot of time together since we have both been married. I still consider her one of my best friends and love when I do get to see her even for only a few minutes.

After touring the grounds of Temple square we headed home, tired but happy. I love Temple Square, especially at Christmas time. Luckily I get to go back on the 21st with my whole family, I can't wait.
