San Diego

All right I guess it is time to post about our great trip to San Diego. We had such a great time, with our family. I have been sorting through my pictures and have them whittled down to 648. I think I need to do some more whittling. This was our first trip playing with our new camera. I takes pictures really fast so I have a lot of the same thing. I will get them sorted out. In the mean time I will not submit you to viewing all of my pictures. Here are just a few highlights.

Thursday was spent as Sew World where we met up with the rest of my family. Holly and Frank flew down from Fremont, Stephanie, Doug and Fam drove from Utah, My mom hitched a ride with them, and Carol, Doug's mom, and her granddaughter Callie. We were quite a group. We saw the amazing dolphin show, I can't believe how high those things can jump. All the kids were quite fascinated by that. I think my favorite exhibit was the shark tank. It was such an incredible feeling to walk underneath the water. I felt like I was in the tank, but somehow staying dry.

They have a place where you can buy some fish and feed the seals, funny how they can get you to pay to do their job. All of the kids took turns tossing a fish in to the seals. We had a great time exploring the rest of the park and getting sunburned. By time we got to the Shamu show we were thoroughly baked. The kids and Justin sat down in the splash zone for Shamu and got thoroughly wet. They were so amazed by Shamu, as was I .

Friday we went to La Jolla beach. It was beautiful. The weather was just warm enough. Justin rented a boogie board, so I decided to give it a try. It was so much fun, I can see why people like to surf, although I do hate the taste of saltwater. The kids played in the sand and got in the little waves. It was a great relaxing day. I am just glad we remembered to slather on the sunscreen so our sunburns didn't worsen.

Saturday, all the girls loaded up and drove to LA to the American Girl Place. All the girls and me brought their dolls to brunch and the American Girl Revue. It was such a great day. I had so much fun being with Savannah and my sisters. We shopped until we dropped. After buying the store out, we headed off to meet my Uncle Steve, who just happened to be in LA that day, for dinner. After dinner with Steve and Dana, his daughter Celeste and her Family we still had to make one more stop to make at the Tall Girl Shop. I was so excited, I have been planning for a year to go to this store. Because of my height I usually have to buy my clothes on line. So when I figured out that we would be driving past a Tall Girl store I knew we had to stop. Holly gave me 30 minute, but I took an hour and 15. I did plenty of damage in that time. I love shopping in a store where most things are too long. That never happens to me. Thanks to family for being so patient.

While the girls were in LA the boys went to the San Diego Zoo. I think they had a great time with Dallin and the babies, they certainly took enough pictures. Dallin had a great time, but got really tired. Thanks to the boys for letting us get away.

Sunday was just a very relaxing day. We went to the Temple and to Sew Port village and just wandered around. We watch the sunset and then headed back to the hotel.

Monday my family all headed home. Justin and I decided to stay one more day and go back to the Zoo. I really wanted to see the Pandas. They were so cute. We had a great day and hit most of the exhibits just right, so we were able to see most of the animals. It was a great way to end our trip.

Tuesday we headed home, to cold weather. When we hit Cedar City and it was only 40 degrees I wanted to turn around. Maybe someday it will warm up and then we can complain about it being too hot.

  3. How fun! You must have had a great time, but been exhausted afterwards! You fit a lot of things into a few days. Can't wait to see you guys on your next adventure down under :-)

  4. We were in San Diego about that very same time! Too bad I didn't see you in Sea World. My kids convinced me to sit in the SOAK ZONE during the dolphin show and it was just that... we got so SOAKED. It took the rest of the day to dry off! I refused to sit in the wet area during Shamu- we were way at the top!
