Write about the importance to you of your holiday tree. (real or fake?)

My tree is fake now. Growing up we always had a real tree. A lot of Christmases we would go to a lot and cut it down our selves. One year we cut down the blue spruce out of our yard. I love real trees. I think they are beautiful and so perfect. However three years ago, I was 9 months pregnant when it came time to go pick out the tree. I kind of freaked out and realized that I didn't have the energy to do that, get the rest of Christmas together and get ready for a baby. So I broke down and gave into Justin's request for a fake tree. My only stipulation was that it had to be tall and it had to be gorgeous. I love my tree now. It has beautiful glittery snow and pine cones on it. One of these years I am going to get a real tree and put it in the basement. I want the kids to have the experience of picking out a tree and putting the lights on it and loving the imperfectness of a tree.

Every year we each get a new ornament for our tree. Yup Justin and I get new ornaments too. That way when the kids get married and I send there ornaments with them, I still have a beautiful tree full of memories. I try to write the date on the ornaments so we can at least remember when we got them.
